After A Pre-Alpha Release- May 2022


Hello, I am Togay from Ancient Gears and we are working on Adanath  for about 1 year.   The game is being developed by a volunteer team and without any financial support.  not easy but we are loving what we have done recently. 

In May 2022, we have released a pre-alpha. ıt is was really good to get some feedbacks and to see that we are doing good or not.   The pre-alpha scene is the first level of the game and it took about 25 minutes to complete.   The level starts  with Adanath and Ninna ( the wife) are talking scene and   the fist quest was Fire The Light.  Adanath should fire the light everyday to send a signal to Learith leader who is living far from Adanath and Ninna's house.  

With this quest we  wanted players get familiar with the movement.  Our tutorial system works  with the quests, so it is harder than creating a tutorial dedicated level.  We should make the players fun, understand the mechanics and feel the story.   This have some difficulties about the  general player demands from a game.  We  realized that players want to make an action at the beginning to like the game .  But Adanath first combat is about 10 minutes from the starting.  That was a big problem. 

In testing sessions and in some event where we joined ,  we have got feedbacks. Some of them positive and some of them negative.   And of the feedbacks are about  it takes too long to have action in the game and the other is feedback for players.   

I want to tell you something honesty. We released the game knowing there are some bugs and missing features.  but we wanted to show the game to you . This was the biggest motivation of the release so that's why some feedback features weren't implemented that version of the game.  Some of the players might be angry  but believe me it is all about " hey, we are working on this from months and we couldn't  stand to keep more. Here is the game".  

So ,  in combat there was no hit reactions of enemies either Adanath.  Tutorials weren't set up correctly. And there was no interactive map in the game and most of players can not understand what to do next.    On the other hand, the environment, music and  general game mechanics got  positive reactions too.   

All feedbacks were welcome and i am very happy to announce you, we are very close to release a new pre-aplha and here are the some improvements ; 

*Opening scene improved; the quest line is changed; now Adanath starts with a hunting quest 

*With hunting feature , Adanath has a new weapon, the Bow.  Now in the pre-alpha Adanath can use bow, dagger and axe . 

* Interactive map will be in the new version. 

* A free cam logic is added. Adanath will see downside of the edges. 

* Massive  map correction. 

* New music added : death and completing quest jingles are added 

* Tutorials and menus now have dedicated icons for keyboard or gamepad 

We are planning to  release the demo at Itch.io in early days of July and we are very excited to get your ideas, thoughts and supports!
